🌊 Abalone shell is found in many places around the world and is also known as Paua in New Zealand, where during our backpacking adventures we found it abundantly in rock pools off the coast of the Tasman Sea where it likes the cool waters..

The iridescent sea-like colors are from microscopic platelets or layers of a substance called Nacre which reflects light and used in jewelry for its mother-of-pearl.
